the history of Kealy's
1901: The first mention of the bar
1911: Patrick Murtagh Swords farmer listed as the owner of the bar, pub is frequented by farmers marking their way to and from market in North County Dublin. It was a bonafide pub with special opening hours.
1937: May Murtagh, Paddy's daughter inherited the bar on the death of her father.
1959: May Murtagh ran the bar until her death in '59, with no will in place the bar is sold at auction.
1960: The bonafife law is abolished, new owner Joe Woods a pools winner takes over the bar. The bar was local spot for boxers, with Woods himself taking part in some matches. Bill Cooley, Jack Doyle & Spike McCormack all boxed there as well.
1982: The Kealy's took over the bar and the bar was famously snowed in that year.
1996: The Sam McGuire paid a visit to the bar!
